Beginner · How to Read Chords on ReanChord
A chord is several notes played together. Here is how chords appear on ReanChord.
▸ CHORDS ABOVE THE LYRICS On every song page the chord name sits directly ABOVE the syllable where you change to it:
[C] [G] I found a love for me
When you reach that syllable, you switch to that chord.
▸ THE SYMBOLS • [C], [Am], [G7] — chord names (the shape to play) • | — a bar line, marking the rhythm/measure • [Intro], [Verse], [Chorus] — song sections
▸ READING A CHORD NAME • A capital letter = major chord (C, G, D) • Letter + "m" = minor chord (Am, Em, Dm) • Numbers = added notes (G7, Cmaj7) • A slash (C/E) = play C with an E in the bass
▸ TOOLS ON EACH SONG • Transpose — shift every chord up/down to fit your voice • Capo — show easier shapes • Highlight — marks the syllable under each chord • Autoscroll — hands-free scrolling while you play
Next: your first open chords.
